CONFERENCE "SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY AND QUALITY FOR BUSINESSES IN THE AGE OF THE DIGITAL ECONOMY" (January 12, 2023)

Attending the Conference, there was MSc. Vu Hong Dan - Head of Productivity Improvement Consulting Department, Vietnam Productivity Institute; Mr. Chu Quang Thai – National Center for Innovative Startup Support; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Kien - Product Quality Department, IT Company, VNPT Group; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu - Head of the National Techfest Smart Agriculture Technology Village, Founder of MEVI Ecosystem; Associate Professor, PhD. Le Bo Linh - Former Deputy Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Environmental Science and Technology Committee; Dr. Hoang Van Tuyen - Academy of Science, Technology and Innovation and all staff of the Vietnam Institute of Economics. In addition, the conference also had the participation of delegates from a number of research agencies and other organizations.

After the opening remarks, the delegates listened to a presentation with the topic "Innovation to improve productivity in some industries in Vietnam", Dr. Ha Huy Ngoc presented the current status of innovation in the mechanical manufacturing industry. Accordingly, initial research shows that enterprises in the mechanical manufacturing industry are making efforts in innovation, enterprises with R&D activities tend to be slow, in 2015 it was 12.16%, by 2018. reached 11.96%; The rate of businesses pursuing product innovation strategies is relatively high, on average in the 2015-2018 period reaching 90.68%/year; The percentage of businesses pursuing strategies to improve and innovate production and business processes reached an average of 86.36%/year.

MSc. Vu Hong Dan presented the article "Application of innovative models and tools to improve business productivity in the new context”. According to the speaker, to promote increased labor productivity, businesses need to improve and innovate with advanced technologies, automation, process improvements, etc. In addition, MSc. Vu Hong Van mentioned models such as lean management (LEAN), key performance indicators (KPI), training team model (TWI), customer relationship management system (CRM) and other models aim to improve productivity and quality of businesses in the context of digital transformation.

The presentation "Developing products and markets for digital technology businesses" was presented by Mr. Chu Quang Thai. According to Mr. Thai, to increase productivity and quality, it is necessary to associate with open innovation. From the above comments, the speaker proposed groups of solutions to promote productivity and quality, including (i) promoting open innovation for businesses or groups of businesses; (ii) promoting creative startups outside businesses and corporations; (iii) digital collective economic model from a decentralized supply chain combining traditional and digital production (digital cooperative).

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu presented a presentation with the topic "Innovation in sustainable agricultural development models". The speaker proposed solutions to reduce production costs, improve capacity, productivity and competitiveness of agricultural products in the market. Specifically, to reduce input costs, it is necessary to apply green technology and green solutions; Automation in production; Using Block chain and Metaverse in production, storage, and product testing. In addition, indigenous cultural knowledge should be applied to agriculture to improve product quality and price on the market.

In the closing session, Associate Professor, PhD. Bui Quang Tuan summarized some points as follows (i) The conference made comments, identified problems, opportunities and challenges in quality productivity from the perspective of state management, businesses and other related parties; (ii) With the difficulties and challenges posed, it requires the participation of many subjects, especially the role of corporations and consultants.
